I had a very busy and full week this last week.  I took vacation days so I had the whole week off.  I spent a lot of it working on Paper Angels for the Pflugerville Holiday Stroll, coming up in 2 weeks (December 12th).

The weather was mostly gorgeous.  We had a lot of cloudy days, but the sun came out Thanksgiving day and stayed out until mid-day today.  Fall, such as it is here in central Texas, has put in a brief appearance, changing the leaves on the crepe myrtles, red oaks, and fall elms to reds, yellows and oranges which are so beautiful to see against the blue skies we had this weekend.  I got some really good leaf pictures, at least two of which I’m going to blow up and add to my nature photography wall.

I got the garage cleaned out Friday and pulled out Christmas decorations, which I started putting up yesterday.  I got my Christmas tree and got it in and decorated while watching my team play a very messy game of football last night.  They won, even though it wasn’t a pretty game.  Needless to say, with all of the running around and decorating ad football, I got nothing in the way of art done yesterday.  This morning, I got up and put up lights on the outside of my house for the first time in many years.  I’m going to be home for Christmas and decided to make the effort.  Once the current cold front/rainy weather blows through, I’ll take a picture and post it.

I have almost finished the first of the paper angels and have got the decorative stuff done on the bodies of two more.  All of the bodies are attached to peltex and I’ve figured out a method of working them so that they go relatively quickly.  There is a lot of hand-work involved, so it’s not as quick as I’d like, but it’s going faster than the first one.  I spent a good part of Wednesday and Thursday morning painting paper and card stock and then punching out tags and making paper beads.  They are getting used on the paper dolls, although I should have a bunch left over.  Here are the angels, in the order I’m working on them.

One Response to “A Fruitful Thanksgiving – Leaves and Paper Dolls and Decorating”

  1. I really like your paper dolls! They aren’t the common type you see around and I love the different twist you have on them.
