It’s been a busy several days around here.  I started cleaning up and out on my birthday (the 27th) and just finished today with the minimum amount of clearing that I wanted to get done.  I sorted through books even and got rid of a bunch (a few at Half Price Books, and the rest at Goodwill).  I also shoveled out the studio again so I could get to the floor and mop it.   Of course, the cats took advantage of this and Bailey has attempted to squash his 24lb body into this tiny cat bed which normally accommodates the 13lb Marigold.

I even had to resort to a list so I could figure out what all I needed to do and make progress towards getting it done!  As for creative stuff, I’ve been working on another dragon.  This one, so that I could correct the issues with the pattern that were pointed out in my critique from EDAC, ended up with a new armature as I applied what I learned from Peggy to rearchitect the arm and leg armatures.

I must say that I really like the way this one is looking, although his legs have gone on once already and were ripped off tonight and are in the process of being reattached.  In fact, I’ve needed to take his legs off and reattach them for a week now, due to placement issues (they were up too high) and alignment issues (the angle of inclination was such that he looked like a dog, begging to play with his tail up in the air and his chest on the ground), but I wasn’t at all motivated to do it.  I finally forced myself into it this evening, having exhausted all excuses for not doing something, and decided that in the time I had left myself, I could get one leg put back on and maybe get the second on too.

I opted to use a curved needle to sew them on this time.  I like the way the stitching turns out with curved needles, but absolutely hate sewing with them.  It takes me three times as long to do the sewing because my fingers just don’t know how to handle them.  Any way, one leg on and the other pinned, and I have the first coat of paint on his eyes and nostrils.  I should be able to get the rest of the paint done, and attach the remaining leg and the head tomorrow and figure out what fabric to use for his wings.  Something reddish orange I think.
