Underwater Dream

Underwater Dream

Jason deCaires Taylor has created multiple underwater sculpture parks near reefs to provide more habitat for coral and reef fish. He works with local inhabitants to cast full size figures in pH-neutral concrete. He has given a TED(TM) Talk about the importance of conservation of our oceans and their inhabitants. Underwater dream is inspired by my dreams of visiting one of his museums.

Techniques and materials in this piece include: hand-dyed and ice-dyed fabric, stenciling, hand-painting, embroidery, beading, machine quilting and trapunto. Cotton, silk cocoons, silk rods, silk waste, beads, acrylic paint and wool batting.
